    Julz

    The founding powerhouse behind Unearthed. Julz brings his passion for clay, people, their building health and love of natural materials to the team.

    What they say about Julz:  Julz is always making sure our people are happy, fulfilled and excited to come to work each day. His passion and energy for clay plasters and natural materials is unmatched and it radiates across all areas of the business.

    When Julz is not at work, you can find him researching all things clay, practising yoga, being in nature and spending time with his lovely family.

    Leon

    The beating heart that keeps the Unearthed crew going.

    What they say about Leon:  Leon’s positive energy and enthusiasm for the business radiates out through every aspect of his work. Leon works across site and office ensuring Unearthed runs as smoothly as our plasters.

    When Leon is not at work, you can find him cooking up some delights in the kitchen, getting out with his dogs and getting involved with his Five-A side team.

    Sonny

    Our young plasterer, Sonny has an amazing affection for clay and all things mortar based! Sonny is our resident site DJ and always keeps the site team’s energy high with the best of his playlists! 😁

    When Sonny is not at work, he enjoys listening to music, making art, and socialising with his friends.

    Jax

    The design eye to the Unearthed crew, with a passion for Neurodesign and biophilia. Jax works on Unearthed’s design, marketing, and workshops, while also specialising in our natural paints and decorative finishes.

    When she’s not at work, Jax explores how our inner world influences our outer world—and how that, shapes the spaces we build and inhabit. Or she’s cooking with fire, spending time with the fam in the wild or dancing to a good tune!

    Rob

    Rob is a nature-loving soul with deep knowledge of the land and its gifts, a big personality, and a generous spirit always ready to lend a hand when needed.

    When Rob is not at work you can find him foraging, learning more about our local history and making healing foods and skin balms.

    Becky

    Becky brings a strong artistic and sculptural presence to the Unearthed crew. Her deep passion and thirst for all things lime and clay, combined with her extensive knowledge, add both expertise and finesse to the Unearthed crew.

    When she's not working with Unearthed, Becky travels the globe, teaching courses and continuously honing her craft. She also loves dancing, practising yoga, and playing the guitar.

    Julia, with her passion for natural building and interior design, brings joy to Unearthed with her smile and laughter; beyond work, she enjoys travelling, permaculture, and experimenting with fermentation and modern alchemy.

    Gabs

    Gabby is our resident Architectural Designer with a love of beautiful design and natural plasters.

    Benito

    Benito Steen, a master plasterer with decades of global experience, is renowned for his artistry in natural building and earthen finishes. Blending traditional craftsmanship with a deep understanding of materials, he creates surfaces that breathe, endure, and inspire. A generous teacher, Benito is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and empowering others to build beautifully and sustainably.

    Chae Perez - The Natural Plasterer

    The Unearthed Crew had the pleasure of hosting Chae “from the bay” Perez, Spring Summer 2025.

    Chae’s thirst for adventure and passion for plaster have him travelling the world, learning and working with some of the world’s best plaster artists.

    Iza - The Wandering Earth Builder

    Iza the Wandering Earth Builder is a Earthen crafts person and designer. Iza is currently studying architecture at CAT and has a passion for working with, teaching and speaking about earth.

    Iza’s warm hearted attitude and love of the craft brings joy to the Unearthed crew and we’re instant friends.

    Simon Lovatt - Calch a Chalai Cymru

    Simon is the founder of Calch a Chlai Cymru, specialising in lime and clay plastering across Bristol and Aberystwyth. With over six years’ experience as a natural plasterer, he combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to create healthy, sustainable finishes. Passionate about sharing skills, Simon also runs workshops and contributes to events like Clayfest, helping to grow knowledge and appreciation of natural building in the UK.

    Jue Sota

    Jue is a craftsperson and natural plasterer working with clay, lime, and earth to repair traditional buildings and create sustainable new structures. Jue also runs workshops and community projects, sharing her passion for natural materials with diverse groups across the UK.

    Isaac Lane Koval - Isaac Plasters

    Isaac is the founder of Isaac Plasters, based in Portugal, specialising in interior plastering and architectural finishes. With a strong interest in natural building and restoration, Isaac blends traditional techniques with modern design sensibilities to create elegant, sustainable surfaces. His work reflects both craftsmanship and a commitment to environmentally conscious construction.
